We are already doing something practical about the scourge of fly-tipping.
In addition, we have begun the process of raising awareness and educating people about it and how to prevent it.
Since Only Pay What It Weighs was founded, we have talked about fly-tipping and how to spot people who are fly-tippers to anyone who will listen as we go about taking waste to approved tips, recycling wherever possible.
In November, however, our Founder, Freddie Jacobs, accepted an invitation to speak at one of the Bromley Buzz community podcast’s regular ‘Bromley BuzzUp’ networking meetings. Freddie is pictured above to the left of Bromley Buzz Founder, Darren Weale.
This BuzzUp was held at the Greener & Cleaner Hub in The Glades shopping centre. The Hub brings people, information, activities, education, workshops, and more together and contributes heavily to improving the environment for all.
“I am really impressed by the Greener Cleaner Hub and what the people there do,” said Freddie, “Being able to speak to such a varied audience, and be with some of the volunteers at the Hub, was great, The Founder of Greener and Cleaner, Parisa Wright, was very impressive when she spoke and led an environmental quiz.
“What we do in clearing waste, even the time we spend voluntarily removing full loads of fly-tipping, is only a part of what it takes to have surroundings that are a pleasure to live in, and to counter pollution and climate change. We will be telling people about the Hub and the opportunities there.
“I kept my own talk quite short. I was really there to learn about what others are doing, and it was a night that left me with a lot to think about.”
The Hub website has an events page, do go to one or simply visit the hub during its regular opening hours.
